Doug's 1973 GMC Motorhome

May 2013
Doug's dream has long been to own and restore a vintage 73-78 GMC Motorhome.  The first pics are of his 1973 GMC as he is just getting started.  The first project was to remove the fuel tanks as both were in need of cleaning and repair as well as the fuel lines being plugged.  The carburetor has been rebuilt and fuel pump replaced.  Doug has redesigned the fuel lines,  moving the fill point from just under the drivers window to just above the fuel tanks.

If you have any ideas of how to reposition the roof top air conditioner to inside the coach let us know.

Fuel tanks were cleaned with a lye solution and then rinsed many times.  May still need some additional repair.
I can't wait to see what Doug comes up with next.  I suspect it will look a bit different in the months to come.

Well, the fuel system restoration is finished and the GMC starts and runs well.  The next project is renovating the exhaust system to be a bit more efficient as well as lowering the heat buildup in the engine compartment.  Doug already has replacement driver and passenger seats as the original seats are less than comfortable and not very safe.  Will add more pics as soon as possible.
